Republican Slate of Candidates - Elected 11/4/25

11/4/25 Election Results - The Entire Slate of Republican Candidates has been voted in!

THOMPSON: FULL ELECTION NIGHT REPORT:

Nick Donohue, a Republican, was elected to be the new First Selectman of Thompson, defeating Democratic candidate Andrew Irby by a vote of 1,445 to 751– according to preliminary results posted to the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s website.

Donohue called in to WINY live on our Election Night Show. He said he has goals to improve feelings of unity and togetherness in Thompson.

“Bring back friendship and honesty and integrity and working together, listening to people,” Donohue said. “Capitalize on the great work that’s already been done and just simply move forward. I know our whole team is so excited to get boots on the ground and just move forward and hammer on and just work as hard as we possibly can.”

Irby also called in to WINY.

“I’m a man of my word so I wanted to call in as requested and one: express my congratulatories to the Republicans here in Thompson, and also: express great gratitude for the support that was given during our campaign,” Irby said. “I wish everybody the best for the next couple of years and hope our town can be led forward.”

Larry Consiglio received 1,309 votes and Geoffrey Bolte received 779 votes. Both were also elected onto to Thompson Board of Selectmen.

Donald J. Trump - Republican - 45th and 47th US President

Courage is not the absence of fear.

Courage is the ability to act effectively, in spite of fear.

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.

Abraham Lincoln - Republican - 16th US President

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Calvin Coolidge - Republican - 30th US President
